About the Council

The bridge between regulators, institutions and seafarers

A unified national platform for RPSL Companies, Maritime Training Institutes and Medical Centres.

Preamble

Recognizing the vital role of the Maritime Sector in India’s economy and global trade, the World Maritime Council (WMC) is established as a unified, apex platform. The Council formally unites DGS-approved RPSL holders, Maritime Training Institutes (MTIs), and specialized Medical Centres — bound by a shared commitment to govern the shipping industry and seafaring community transparently, professionally, and ethically.

Objective

WMC serves as a unified platform for DGS-approved RPSL Companies, Maritime Training Institutes, and Medical Centres, working across India collectively for the welfare, development, and betterment of the shipping industry and the seafaring community — addressing present challenges, fostering transparency and professionalism, and safeguarding the legitimate interests of all stakeholders.

In essence, WMC is the bridge between regulators, institutions, and seafarers, ensuring that India’s maritime ecosystem grows stronger, fairer, and future-ready.

Vision statement

To be the unified voice of India’s maritime stakeholders, fostering transparency, professionalism, and welfare while shaping a resilient and globally respected Indian shipping industry.
